The night beats to the rhythm of surprise encounters, blinding lights and limits that crumble to reveal our deepest truths. Distilling the unifying power of dance, Minuit quelque part is a journey through movement, produced by CAPAS • Dance Label. Directed by La Résistance – Lydia Bouchard and Merryn Kritzinger, ten performers guide us through eight tableaux imagined by renowned Quebec choreographers, who match each other in virtuosity to get the pleasure of movement to become contagious: Marie Chouinard’s inimitable style unites with Anne Plamondon’s intimate subversiveness, Kristen Céré’s poignant athleticism, Ismaël Mouaraki’s intoxicating physicality, Virginie Brunelle’s raw sensuality, Lydia Bouchard and Merryn Kritzinger’s poetry and Charles-Alexis Desgagnés’s explosive dazzle. In a skilful balance between contemporary dance and pop culture, the show gives a glimpse of the many different ways of experiencing the night, where art, finesse and amazement meet. The piece speaks a demanding choreographic vocabulary that is as powerful as it is fascinating. Living to the rhythm of an electrifying music score, the show reminds us that it’s always time to dance and dream, because it’s always Midnight somewhere.
